The best restaurant in the world?

I have mixed emotions about promoting anything to do with Civitella del Lago, a wonderful hilltop town, with views over Lake Corbara and Orvieto. Why would I let anyone else into the secret?
However, the Trippini family deserve more kudos for their incredible restaurant. Can food get better than this? Where are the Michelin stars?
It snowed on our visit to a friends house in the town and the water pipes froze. Adolfo (Mr. Trippini himself!) arrived within minutes with his trusty blowtorch and fixed it, before expertly building an open fire for us. To my shame , all communication was in sign language.
The next day, Paolo cooked and Luca served some of the best food I’ve ever eaten, all sourced within a stones throw of the restaurant.
During our stay, the news of David Mills’ prison sentence coincided with a mini G8 summit. Gordon Brown is taking advice about corruption from Silvio Berlusconi. What a strange and beautiful place.
